Holiday Drinks Make Or Break My Day
Why is it so hard to make the same holiday drink every time? When I go to Dunkin’ Donuts or Starbucks to get my drink, it’s either too coffee-forward or too flavor-forward. This is definitely a first-world problem, and I understand that, but hear me out. I am not a fall-flavored girly. I do not enjoy pumpkin spice or really any pumpkin-flavored things all that much, so when winter time comes around, and the peppermint flavors are introduced, this feels like my time to shine. I enjoy an iced peppermint mocha latte everywhere I go. Lucky for me, some Starbucks locations serve seasonal flavors year-round. At Starbucks, I feel like I have less of a chance of being disappointed, and I know what I’m gonna get every single time with the holiday drinks. With the Starbucks iced peppermint latte, I don’t enjoy the chocolate flakes on top because once I get down to the last third of the drink, I feel like all I’m doing is eating bits of chocolate, and I hate to say it, but I am not a chocolate person. I feel like they are more consistent with the way that they make their drinks. At Dunkin' Donuts, though, my experience is more inconsistent. I’ve tried ordering a drink through pick up with more pumps of peppermint mocha flavor, and it seems like there is either way too much peppermint mocha in my iced peppermint mocha latte, or there is not enough. I’ve heard this complaint from many people in my family, specifically that coffee locations are unpredictable with the drinks they make, but I see it more with the seasonal flavors. I’m not sure if there’s a recipe that the baristas follow or if they just eyeball the measurements, but I would really like to see the seasonal flavors get more consistent, because they are here for a limited time.
