Why I’m Channeling Aria Montgomery This Fall

2025 is the year for a throwback fall aesthetic. Pretty Little Liars and The Vampire Diaries perfectly encapsulate the 2009-2010 fall vibe that I have been seeing everywhere. Layers of clothes, short nails, warm tones, and the breath of an autumn breeze. The character that makes me think of fall is Aria Montgomery from Pretty Little Liars. Played by the icon herself, Lucy Hale, Aria is the perfect autumnal aesthetic that I am looking to channel this fall.

Pretty Little Liars first aired in 2010, celebrating its fifteenth anniversary this year. Viewers often rewatch the show beginning on Labor Day to coincide with the pilot episode, which is exactly what I did this year. The moody tones of the show, paired with the mysterious texts lend themselves to creating a great transition from summer into fall.

Here are some things that I am going to do to make fall feel more like I’m living in Rosewood with the liars:

Wardrobe

Aria’s aesthetic is eclectic, boho, artsy, and edgy. From dark color palettes to unique accessories, Aria is never one to shy away from a fashion statement. She wears leather jackets, boots, multiple layers, tights, dangly earrings, long necklaces, dark tones, and carries leather hobo bags. I’ve been thrifting pieces that fall into these categories to help add to my “Aria aesthetic”.

Makeup

Aria’s makeup is unique to her character and fits Lucy Hale perfectly. She always has bold brows, a berry-toned lip color, and a natural smoky eye paired with doe-eyed eyeliner to accentuate her big eyes. Luckily, I have all the necessities to recreate this makeup look.

Aesthetic

In order to fully live out my perfect Aria Montgomery fall, I want to create an overall aesthetic for myself. Some activities include creating a Lana Del Rey focused playlist, journaling weekly in a handwritten notebook, and acting like I always have a secret, because let's face it, Aria always did have a secret.

Aria Montgomery is a fan favorite character played by Lucy Hale, who captured her chic aesthetic for seven seasons. Every fall, I get the itch to watch Pretty Little Liars again because it’s one of my favorite shows, even though the ending was…interesting to say the least. I can’t wait to recreate some iconic outfits from Aria this fall and hopefully you will recreate some too!
